Local Girl Scouts troop busy with activities

Girl Scout Troop 3364 has had a busy few years since its inception.
Naming a few activities, the four members, Shanoah, Faith, Caitlynn and Abbi, have attended STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) events, they’ve gone zip-lining at Big Sky Mountain, and have gone to a sleepover with other groups where they watched movies and ate popcorn.
“Girl Scouts gives the girls an opportunity to develop skills and confidence for leadership roles in their future,” Troop Leader Chantel Miller said.
“The girls belong to a sisterhood that reveals just how strong girls can be and how they can come together to make the world a better place.”
Part of Girl Scouts is their annual cookie sale, for which pre-sale orders wrap up on Feb. 18.
Each girl, Miller said, has their own set of personal goals that they’ll use the money they raise toward.
Miller said she got involved when her daughter, Caitlynn, brought home a Girl Scout brochure from school, saying she was interested in joining.
When Miller took her daughter to sign up, she was informed that Polson did not have any current troops.
That’s when Miller said she was asked if she’d be interested in being a troop leader “although I knew nothing about Girl Scouts.”
