Gliders have been seen flying around Ephrata for decades. Of course, the Ephrata was being built in 1941, so they used Quincy as their base. Read on.

Gliders at Quincy

A common occurrence in the Quincy district is for residents of that area to get glimpses of gliders soaring around overhead. Four young men from the Tacoma Flying School have spent several weeks practicing in the fields there. The boys state came to Quincy because it is the finest country they know of for gliding as the air currents are just right to take their ship up any height they desire.

Soap Lake Suds

-Elsie Price of Opal, SD is visiting the D. Yorks and their families.

-Mr. and Mrs. G.E. Miller, son and daughter, of Spokane were visiting this week at the L.H. Schible and Ed Havell homes.

-Ed Hays has returned from Alaska where he was employed for two months.

-Mrs. Mary Kraigbaum has enjoyed a visit from her daughters, Mrs. H. Dunwoodie and a daughter from Colville, Wash. Mrs. Jessie Longenberger of Seattle and daughter-in-law, Mrs. Bob Kraigbaum of Seattle. Mr. Logenberger is from the American Legion University Post No. 1 and Mrs. Kraighbaum is rehabilitation chairman from the Veterans of Foreign Wars White Center No. 2886. While they are here, they accompanied Mrs. H. Thompson to the McKay Memorial Hospital on her visit as hospital chairman. It was their first visit there and all remarked about the beautiful grounds.

-Rosalie and Wilma spent Sunday at the home of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. H.L. Thompson, returning to Wenatchee the same evening.

-Many Soap Lake residents attended the boat races at Moses Lake and report a very good time.
