BFHS girls drop two games at state

NAMPA, Idaho — The Panthers of Snake River defeated the Badgers 58-51 in the first round of the 3A girls basketball state tournament at Skyview High School in Nampa, Idaho.
The Badgers did a good job defensively on Snake River’s 5-foot-10 point guard, Kelsey Higginson, for three quarters, but freshman post Josee Steadmon scored 21 points, including three 3-pointers. Higginson finished with 20 points, scoring most of them late in the game, including 11-for-14 from the free-throw line.
Overall, Snake River made 27-of-34 free throws (74.4 percent) while the Badgers struggled from the line and made 18-of-34 free throws (52.9 percent).
Kadi Bateman led the Badgers with 21 and 8 rebounds. Jerzie Pluid contributed 12 points.

The Lady Badgers struggled offensively in their second game at the state tournament. Bonners Ferry ended the first quarter trailing 11-2.
Bonners Ferry rallied to start the second half and cut the Panther lead to 25-22 midway through the third quarter. The Badgers then did not score for the next 11 minutes until Emily Blackmore made 2 free throws with 51 seconds left in the game.
The Panthers were led by 5-11 point guard Madison Jackson who scored 22 points, with 6 rebounds and 5 steals. Kadi Bateman led the Badgers with 11 points.

Lady Badgers struggle at Timberlake
SPIRIT LAKE — Taryn Soumas scored 17 points, including four 3-pointers, as she led the Timberlake Tigers to a 66-37 victory over the visiting Badgers on Wednesday, Jan. 8. Blayre Jeffs, a 6-foot-5 post, added 14 points for the Tigers, who are ranked #2 in the Idaho 3A state rankings.
Lady Badgers second at districts, fall to Teton in state play-in game
It was a busy week of travel for the Badgers as they played four away games in six days while traveling 1,442 miles.
