Candidate filing period starts Monday

COEUR d’ALENE — Monday is the start of the candidate filing period for the May 15 primary elections.

Kootenai County positions up for election include the two-year District 1 commissioner spot and four-year terms for District 3 commissioner, assessor, clerk, coroner and treasurer.

In addition, there will be candidate options for precinct committee representatives.

All documents are at http://www.kcgov.us/elections/ under the "Candidate Information" link.

The filing deadline is 5 p.m. on March 9.

The county will post online daily updates on candidate filings starting Tuesday.

"We expect a great deal of interest in candidate filings," said Jim Brannon, county clerk.
