The Flathead Classic Sled Dog Race hosted a record 54 entries in last weekend’s sled dog races held at the at Dog Creek Lodge & Nordic Center near Olney.
Competitions included 12-dog, eight-dog, six-dog, four-dog, four-dog junior, two-dog skijoring, one-dog skijoring and one-dog fat bike.
The first day’s times for the 12 and eight-dog classes were not used because all of the mushers went on the wrong trail and ended up having to have assistance to get back. The second day’s finishes were picture perfect for the 12 and eight-dog teams.
First place finisher in the 12-dog class was Clayton Perry of Power, Montana. First place in the six-dog was Eric Marsden of Canada, and gold also went to four-dog winner Mary Wellborn.
The 12-dog teams raced for 43 miles, four-dog and two-dog skijoring traveled 4.5 miles and one-dog skijoring went 2.5 miles.

Rehberg to attend rally for Jesus statue
