Jane Staiger McNulty, 97, peacefully went home to Jesus on Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2017, in Sandpoint, Idaho. Private family services will be held at a later date.
Jane was born on January 23, 1920, in Fullerton, Calif., to Homer and Helen Bemis. She graduated from Fullerton High School before marrying Max Shields. They made their home in Lafayette, Calif., where they raised three daughters while Jane worked as a church secretary. Max passed away in 1981.
After Max’s death, Jane moved to Carmel where she met and married Lea Staiger. They made their home there until he, too, passed away. She then married Bill McNulty and they resided in Carmel as well. After Bill’s death in 2005, Jane moved to Sandpoint to be close to family.
Jane was active in the Methodist Church and Monterey Woman’s Club. She enjoyed playing bridge at the Sandpoint Senior Center and always enjoyed helping others. She also liked to travel and socialize.
She is survived by her three daughters: Judy Riffe and Kathy Cooper, both of Sandpoint, and Leilani Shields of Chandler, Ariz.; and two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. She is also survived and blessed by many extended family members of her husband, Lea Staiger.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents, three husbands, and one sister, Carol Kleinschmidt. The two sisters called each other Toots so to the cousins they were Auntie Toots.
