MOSES LAKE — Recent layoffs at airbag manufacturer Takata have prompted the state WorkSource Central Basin Office to reach out to impacted employees.

An estimated 65 employees are believed to have been laid off at Takata’s Randolph Road facility where about 350 people work. Company officials have been unavailable for comment.

Two meetings for dislocated workers are set for 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Thursday, at WorkSource, located at 309 E. Fifth Ave., Moses Lake.

According to a December report from the Associated Press, Honda reported the 20th death from a person hit by an exploding Takata air bag inflater. The death occurred July 10 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Honda was Takata’s largest customer and urging consumers via door-to-door visits and on Facebook to get their cars repaired, according to the AP.
