Local students nominated to service academies

Idaho Sens. Mike Crapo (R) and Jim Risch (R) and Rep. Raul Labrador (R-Idaho) have announced their nominations of Idaho high school students for the nation’s military service academies. Several Kootenai County students were nominated.

- Noah Throm of Hayden was nominated by Crapo, Risch and Labrador to the U.S. Army Military Academy (Westpoint). Throm was also nominated to the U.S. Naval Academy (Annapolis) by Risch.

- Joseph Gibbs of Cataldo was nominated by Crapo and Risch to the U.S. Naval Academy (Annapolis). Gibbs was also nominated to the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (Kings Point, NY) and to the U.S. Air Force Academy (Colorado Springs) by Risch.

- Rafael Zamora of Bayview was nominated by Crapo, Risch and Labrador to the U.S. Naval Academy (Annapolis). Zamora was also nominated to the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (Kings Point, NY) by Crapo and Labrador. He was also nominated to the U.S. Air force Academy by Labrador.

- Garrett Moen of Rathdrum was nominated by Crapo to the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (Kings Point, NY).
