Now, it's time for the horseradish and au jus

At long last, the inaugural season of Gridiron Guesses is over.
The capper was the two bowl games played by our area teams — Boise State handling Oregon 38-28 in the Las Vegas Bowl, and Washington State stinking up the joint in the Holiday Bowl for a second straight year, this time in a 42-17 loss to Michigan State last week.
I went 2-0 in my bowl picks. My trusty sidekick, Jason Elliott, who appears to have survived last week’s onslaught of phone calls from local basketball and wrestling teams, went 0-2.
Though, admittedly, the Boise State game seemed so long ago, I had to go back and double-check who picked who.
So, for the final totals ...
I went 34-15 in my college football picks (we picked games involving Idaho, WSU, Boise State and Eastern Washington). Jason was 32-17.
Those numbers were combined with the results of our picks of local high school games.
Overall, I went 80-36 (69 percent), and Jason was 74-42 (63.8 percent).
But the big winner was our stomachs.
I would like to take this time to publicly thank our bosses for saying they would treat us to prime rib dinners as a show of support for this Gridiron Guesses project.
Wait? What’s that you say? They didn’t really promise prime rib for this?
It was just our tummies talking?
Oh well. Maybe next year.
