Vikings pin down Borah
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 7 years AGO
BOISE — Coeur d’Alene High challenged its team by jumping on the bus and traveling to Boise, weighing in and trying to stay aggressive in Thursday’s match with host Borah.
The Vikings responded.
Coeur d’Alene won eight matches by pin, including seven straight from 126- to 170-pounds, and the Vikings beat the Lions 59-27 in a tuneup for this weekend’s Rollie Lane Invitational.
“The guys were hunting for pins, but those were some tough matches,” Coeur d’Alene coach Jeff Moffat said. “The guys were going for back points and we kind of challenged them a little to get off the bus, weigh in and wrestle. And they showed they could handle it. The guys in the middle weights from 120 to 170 wrestled really well. We were pleased. They responded to what we asked of them.”
Jacob Krous (126), Payton Keough (132), Garrett Ashby (138), Mitchell Moffat (145), Max Peressini (152), Klayton Hindberg (160) and Nick Dohm (170) for Coeur d’Alene, which also got a pin from Sam Reese (113) on the night.
The Rollie Lane Invitational begins this morning and runs through Saturday at the Ford Idaho Center in Nampa.
