COEUR d’ALENE — Keara Simpson scored 16 points and the Lake City Timberwolves finished strong, using a 13-1 run in the fourth quarter to pull away from the Lewiston Bengals for a 47-40 victory in 5A Inland Empire League play Friday night.
“We haven’t done a great job closing out games,” Lake City coach James Anderson said. “I’m really proud how we handled time and situation, and we did a great job handling the ball down the stretch.”
Chloe Teets added 10 points for Lake City (9-6, 2-0 5A IEL), which took the lead for good at 37-36 on a free throw by Dejah Wilson with 5:36 to play.
“Keara and Chloe did a great job handling their press,” Anderson said. “Our defense in the fourth quarter was excellent. Klaire Mitchell was fantastic tonight. She was everywhere on defense.”
Cameron Cady scored nine points to lead Lewiston (12-4, 1-2), still playing without top scorer Kendyll Kinzer, out with a knee injury.
