1 dead in collision near George

GEORGE — A Palisades man died a single-vehicle collision near George over the weekend.

About 2:10 a.m. on Sunday George Wistos, 53, of Wenatchee, was driving a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee west on Interstate 90, about six miles east of George, when he reportedly crossed the median and went into the eastbound I-90 lanes. The Jeep reportedly rolled several times before coming to a rest on its top on the eastbound I-90 shoulder, according to the Washington State Patrol.

A passenger in the Jeep, identified as Casey Crockett, 41, of Palisades, died at the scene of the collision. Another passenger in the Jeep, identified as Tina Thorn, 46, of Palisades, was injured and transported to Quincy Valley Medical Center for treatment. Wistos was not injured.

The patrol reports neither Crockett nor Thorn was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision. Wistos was cited for driving with his wheels off the road.
