Pedestrian injured in Rathdrum

RATHDRUM — An 85-year-old Rathdrum man was struck by a vehicle on Tuesday night while he was attempting to walk across Highway 41 in a crosswalk, according to Idaho Police.

Robert B. Bedard was struck at the intersection of Highway 41 and Stevens Street in Rathdrum by a black 1999 Subaru Forester driven by Joe L. Axtell, 71, Rathdrum, around 5:15 p.m., according to ISP.

Bedard was transported to Kootenai Health before being transferred to a different hospital, according to Kootenai staff.

The Forester was headed southbound.

An ISP press release does not indicate if charges have been filed. An investigation continues.
