MOSCOW — An off night shooting, mixed with a strong night shooting from beyond the 3-point line by Gabe Quinnett was too much for the Lakeland Hawks to overcome in their 4A Inland Empire League opener at Bear Den on Thursday.

Quinnett hit 5 of 8 3-pointers and finished with 25 points for the Moscow Bears in a 66-54 win over Lakeland.

“We kind of had an off night shooting the ball and they were able to get some shots to fall,” Lakeland assistant coach Bill Ryan said. “It got to a point where we were scrambling from behind in the second half, and they could be patient and wait to find the right shot.”

Dylan Knight scored nine points and Josiah Haaland eight rebounds and five points for Lakeland (8-3), which hosts Timberlake on Tuesday.

Moscow (3-10) hosts Sandpoint on Saturday.
