Erma Ellen Raines McKinney, 93, passed away on Monday, Jan. 8, 2018 in Sagle, Idaho. A graveside service will be held Jan. 15, 2018, at the Pack River Cemetery at 1 p.m.
Erma was born on a farm in Valier, Mont., on Nov. 25, 1924, to Zail and Helen Raines. The family moved to Thorsby, Alberta, Canada, where Erma attended school for seven years. They moved back to Valier, where she finished her schooling. She worked at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Conrad, Mont. Erma married in Shelby, Mont. and after several years, divorced and moved to Seattle, Wash. While living in Seattle, Erma belonged to the Methodist Church and the Eagles Lodge. In 1972, Erma moved to Sandpoint to look after her mother. In December of that year, Erma married Charles E. Beals and they would spend the next 45 years together.
Music was a family passion and everyone loved to play music, dance and sing. Erma loved to play western music on the piano and the guitar. Erma will be remembered as a woman that loved people and did everything she could for them.
Erma is proceeded in death by her parents, Zail and Helen Raines. She is survived by her husband, Charles Beals of Sagle, Idaho; her daughter, Ellen Ellsworth of Antioch, Calif.; grandchildren, David Hair, Jaclyn Ellsworth, Stacy McCraney; and great-grandchildren, Trinity, Lillian, and Cayden Wilcox
