MOSES LAKE — Moses Lake police are investigating a Sunday night shooting at a park that left a male critically injured.
About 7:30 p.m. the Moses Lake Police Department received a report of a shooting in the Montlake Park area. A male reportedly received a gunshot wound to the chest and was taken to Samaritan Hospital in Moses Lake for treatment. As of Monday afternoon the victim was reported to be in critical condition at Samaritan.
“While the investigation continues, we can say there appears to be two suspects involved, both of whom fled (Montlake) in a full-sized pickup,” MLPD Capt. Dave Sands said. “And at this time is appears that the victim knew at least one of the suspects.”
Few details have been released about the shooting itself or about the suspects. Sands said there may have been a vehicle in the parking lot at Montlake around the time of the shooting and detectives would like to speak with the occupants of the vehicle. A description of the vehicle is not available and Sands explained that whoever was in the car is a potential witness to the shooting.
The MLPD is also asking anyone with surveillance cameras near Montlake Park to contact the department. If you have any information contact the MLPD at 509-764-3887.
