Calam Shriners install Cd'A native as Potentate

Coeur d’Alene native David R. Garnett was elected and installed as the 2018 Potentate of Calam Shriners on Saturday, Jan. 13, in Lewiston.

A second-generation Shriner since 1972, Garnett is a 1967 graduate of Coeur d’Alene High School and a 1969 graduate of North Idaho Junior College.

He has been married to Susan for 32 years and is the father of three. He is the owner of Garnett Papering, a nationally known wallpapering company.

Calam Shriners is headquartered in Lewiston, but has clubs and units spread throughout North Idaho, including the Moyie Shrine Club in Bonners Ferry, the Panhandle Shrine Club in Sandpoint, the Shoshone County Shrine Club in the Silver Valley, the St. Maries Shrine Club as well as the Coeur d’Alene Shrine Club.

The Shriners are a fraternal organization dedicated to supporting 22 Shriners Hospitals for Children throughout North America that provide specialized care to children with orthopedic conditions, burns, spinal cord injuries, and cleft lip and palate, regardless of ability to pay for treatment.
