House District 14 Rep. Denley Loge (R) traveled to Helena last week to file for the Legislature in 2018. All of the House seats and half of the Senate seats are open. Loge said he was excited to be involved in the last legislative session.

“I learned to work with some very intelligent, progressive, and truly concerned Montanans,” he said. ”These legislators truly have Montana’s citizens and future at heart. I gained respect as a freshman legislator and can help my constituents because of that respect and my experience. I have been given much encouragement from my constituents and colleagues to run for reelection.”

Over 130 candidates have filed for the House so far, including Diane Magone from Superior, who filed as a Democrat. There are a total of 100 House of Representative seats and members serve two-year terms. There are 50 Senate seats and members serve four-year terms.

Loge found that being in public office was much more demanding and required more patients than he imagined. He felt he did make some mistakes along the way, “but I learned and will keep trying to do what is right.”

Loge also talked about the polarization that is so prominent in politics in this day and age, “it’s hard to accomplish a good outcome for all citizens. This is true on health care, taxes, education, wildlife, and resource issues.”

However, he feels that with his varied life experiences, work ethic and ability to work with people in a calm manor allows him to work in Helena for the good of all of his constituents, “I have more work to do for the residents of House District 14 and Montana,” he said.

No major flooding as snow thaws

“As the ground starts thawing, the rocks start falling,” was a post made on the Mineral County Sheriff’s Office’s Facebook page last week. A photo accompanied the post of a big rock which had come down on Mullan Road East near the Big Eddy fishing access in Superior on March 11. “Please be aware of your surroundings and pay attention while driving,” they warned in the post.
