The Mineral County Performing Arts Council welcomed pianist and Montana native Amy Grinsteiner last Tuesday to perform at the LDS Church in Superior. She was joined by local pianist and composer, Scott Billadeau. The duo performed two piece by their former University of Montana teacher, Dennis Alexander.
In addition to the two performing before a large, enthusiastic crowd, Amy also performed a number of pieces accompanied by a little background and information about each one.
“The program ranged from fiendishly difficult transcriptions for piano, to the surprisingly contemporary-sounding Allen Berg Sonata, to George Gershwin’s jazzy, pyrotechnic crowd pleaser Rhapsody in Blue,” said performing arts council member, Jim Goss.
Amy is a faculty member of The College of St. Benedict and St. John’s University of Minnesota and Anita Bailey, who is on the Board of Directors for the Performing Arts Council said Amy “is an outstanding musician, precise and expressive.”
The next event for the Mineral County Performing Arts Council will be their Annual Spring Gala on March 16. They will be hosting a new folk quartet “West My Friend” at the Superior Elementary Gym.
