SANDPOINT — Ryan Luttmann made his final presentation as city's Public Works director during Wednesday's council meeting.

Luttmann tenured his resignation notice to staff on Tuesday as he accepted a position with Century West Engineering. The company plans to open an office in Sandpoint and expand their business in North Idaho. His last day with the city will be Feb. 2.

"It's been a pleasure to work with the city and I appreciate the opportunity for the personal and professional development I've had here," Luttmann said.

At the conclusion of his two-year tenure, Ryan leaves the city with "legacy projects which will continue to define the community for years to come" said Mayor Shelby Rognstad. 

Some of those projects include the two-way reversion implementation, the first phase of the downtown revitalization plan, as well as the Schweitzer Cutoff Bridge and roundabout.

Luttmann also kicked off our wastewater facility planning effort, which the city's consultants, JUB Engineering, will update council on next month, Rognstad said. 

"All of us at the city wish Ryan and his family the best in his new endeavor and look forward to a continued positive working relationship into the future," Rognstad said.

In addition, it was the last council meeting for Shannon Syth as the city's treasurer and finance director.

Syth announced her retirement last year and has been training Sarah Lynds as her replacement. Syth's last day is Jan. 31.

"Shannon has been such a great leader for the city," Rognstad said, thanking her for her service and hard work with the city.

The city has also hired its first human resources director/risk manager, Nicole Goes. She is working with city administration and staff to review current job descriptions and organization structure, so City Administrator Jennifer Stapleton said she anticipates a posting for Luttmann's replacement in the next week.
