The Fisher River Fire Rescue Auxiliary will hold its fundraising “Lower Thompson Chain of Lakes Ice Fishing Derby” Jan. 27 and Jan. 28, hosted by the Kickin Horse Saloon and Eatery. Part of the proceeds will be used to purchase fire and rescue equipment.

There will be categories for adults and children, and fishing categories include pike, perch, rainbow and salmon. Children under age 12 get in for free.

The payouts for each adult category will be determined by the number of entrants. Of the $20 entry fee, $12 will be paid out, $7 will go to the Fisher River Fire Rescue Auxiliary and $1 will go to Montana Fish, WIldlife and Parks.

The payout will be divided 25 percent to each category with 50 percent for first place, 35 percent for second place and 15 percent for third place.

In the children’s categories, ice sleds will be awarded for first place, tackle boxes for second and ice buckets and scoops for third.

Many businesses in Libby, Troy and Kalispell will provide doors prizes for adults and ice fishing poles and other giveaways for children

Tickets can be purchased in advance at Libby Sports, Happy’s Road House Inn and Snappy’s Sport Senter, and at the Kickin Horse Saloon and Eatery both in advance and the day of the event.
