Prep roundup: Moses Lake swim suffers first dual loss at Wenatchee

WENATCHEE — Moses Lake won half of the events, but could not counter Wenatchee’s depth and lost 106-80.

The loss was Moses Lake’s first of the season and clinched the Columbia Basin Big Nine league championship for Wenatchee.

Moses Lake finished first in the 200 and 400 freestyle relays.

Dylan Bond (1:48.86) and Noah Heaps (5:03.78) won the 200 and 500 freestyle, respectively.

Eric Kemper placed first in the 100 butterfly with a time of 54.40 seconds. Brett Jorgensen won the final individual event, the 100 breaststroke, in 1:02.27.

Moses Lake hosts the CBBN league swim meet on Jan. 25.

Girls basketball

Riverside Christian 47, Moses Lake Christian 32

YAKIMA — Moses Lake Christian struggled from the free throw line and lost at Riverside Christian 47-32.

The Lions shot 4-of-26 from the charity stripe and fell behind by double digits in the first half.

Cassidy Stanley scored a team-high 10 points. Rylee Homesly and Aspen Merkle added nine points each.

Boys basketball

Riverside Christian 52, Moses Lake Christian 42

YAKIMA — Moses Lake Christian’s six-game win streak was snapped by Riverside Christian 52-42.

The Crusaders ran a box-and-one defense in an attempt to slow down point guard Pierre Boorman. Boorman scored 16 points. Walter Meise recorded 10 points.
