Colleen Graves, 84

Colleen C. Graves, age 84, entered into rest unexpectedly on Jan. 16, 2018, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Colleen was born June 24, 1933, in Loesch, Mont., to Harold and Ruth Crane. The family moved to the Sandpoint area, where Colleen grew up and attended school. In April of 1952, she married Milford A. Graves, who was in the USAF in N.M. Together, in 1956, they moved to Sandpoint to live and raise their children. Milford was transferred to Coeur d’Alene in 1963, and they have remained residents since.

Colleen entered the workforce once their youngest son began school. She got a job working at JC Penney and held various positions before retiring in 2002, after 35 years of service. Colleen’s priority was her family. She always made sure everyone was doing what they were supposed to. She taught all of her children to cook and she spoiled her grandchildren.

Colleen is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Milford of Coeur d’Alene; daughter, Debbie (Pete) Pryor of Coeur d’Alene; sons, Gregory (Anita) Graves of Spokane, Wash. and Mark (Teresa) Graves of Coeur d’Alene; six grandchildren, Kelly, Tyler, Emily, Ryan, Stacy and Jordan; six great-grandchildren, Sophie, Connor, Addison, Parker, Hunter and Riley; brothers, John Crane of Everson, Wash. and Roy Crane of Bend, Ore.; sisters, Carroll Haivland of Rathdrum and Inez Carter of Coeur d’Alene. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Collins and Jimmie.

Our family would like to say a special thank you to her physicians and their staff who cared for our Mother these past years. You showed care and compassion. We know she could be ornery, but you never had to guess what she was thinking. Colleen loved with all her heart. We are going to miss her so much!

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 27, 2018, at Yates Funeral Home — Hayden Chapel, 373 E. Hayden Ave., Hayden, ID 83835, with a reception following.

Memorials in honor of Colleen may be sent to Debbie’s Dream Foundation: Curing Stomach Cancer, at www.debbiesdream.org. Please visit Colleen’s online memorial and sign her guest book at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com.
