David Thompson Search and Rescue will host a two-day avalanche workshop Jan. 26-27.
There will be an indoor class from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., Friday, and an outdoor portion beginning at 7 a.m., Saturday, and running into early afternoon, said search and rescue member Terry Crooks.
The outdoor portion will require snowmobile access and cover avalanche transceivers, hasty searches and an avalanche dog demonstration, Crooks said. Participants will meet up at the search and rescue building at 7 a.m. They will then travel to the class location.
Individuals can participate in both or either portion, but those who participate both days will receive a level 2 certification from the American Avalanche Association, Crooks said.
Chili and hotdogs will be provided Saturday by the Troy Snowmobile Club and David Thompson Search and Rescue, he said.
For more information call Terry Crooks 406-293-6629.
