Kootenai falls despite 35 from Usdrowski

HARRISON FLATS — Triston Usdrowski poured in 35 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for Kootenai, but the host Warriors fell 60-56 to Mullan in North Star League play Tuesday night.

“It was a fun game,” Kootenai coach Mike Maitland said. “Gosh, I just wish we could get over the hump and win one. The boys are improving each game and it was fun to watch tonight.”

Gage Maitland had 10 points and eight assists for Kootenai (0-10, 0-4 NSL), which travels to Deary on Thursday.

Skye Gallaway scored 14 points for Mullan (5-5, 3-4 NSL), which faces Genesis Prep on Friday at Post Falls Middle School.

SANDPOINT — Emma Whiteman hit a 3-pointer with 10 seconds remaining to force overtime for the Vikings, but a 30-point night by Grace Kirscher lifted the Bulldogs to a nonleague win at Les Rogers Court.

Whiteman scored 17 points and Rey Louden added 15 for Coeur d’Alene (6-13), which travels to Post Falls on Thursday.

“I like Emma’s aggression,” Coeur d’Alene coach Scott Stockwell said. “She’s looking to score, and that’s what we need from her right now. Half of our team are freshman. We’re asking a lot of some young girls.”

Audrey Mattila scored nine points for Sandpoint (10-8), which visits Lakeland next Tuesday.
