BONNERS FERRY — Miranda Wenk continued her strong play, leading the Lady Badgers with 18 points and 18 rebounds in their win over Post Falls JV. After a 15-15 first quarter tie, the Badgers outscored the Trojans 15-6 in the second quarter for a 9-point halftime lead, and they finished with a 20-12 fourth quarter en route to a 69-51 victory.

Kadi Bateman had 17 points to go along with 6 assists and freshman Holly Ansley added 12 points. Junior Jerzie Pluid continued to dominate on the boards with 12 rebounds and also added 6 points.

“They were a very athletic team. We did a great job of handling their pressure,” said coach Travis Hinthorn.

Senior Day: Bonners Ferry 56, Wallace 23

Seniors Tori Burt, Kassy Skeen, Kadi Bateman and Miranda Wenk were recognized before the game for their dedication and contributions to Badger basketball for the last four years. Then the Lady Badgers held the Miners to two first-half field goals along with 8 free throws to jump out to a 35-12 halftime lead and eventual 56-23 victory.

Wenk led the Badgers with 13 points and 13 rebounds for her eighth double-double in her last 10 games. Kadi Bateman also filled the stat sheet with 10 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals.

The Lady Badgers will host the Kellogg Wildcats Friday, Jan. 26, and travel to Priest River this Saturday, Jan. 27. In their final week of the regular season, the Badgers host Timberlake next Tuesday, Jan. 30, and travel to Kellogg on Thursday, Feb. 2.

Lady Badgers struggle at Timberlake

SPIRIT LAKE — Taryn Soumas scored 17 points, including four 3-pointers, as she led the Timberlake Tigers to a 66-37 victory over the visiting Badgers on Wednesday, Jan. 8. Blayre Jeffs, a 6-foot-5 post, added 14 points for the Tigers, who are ranked #2 in the Idaho 3A state rankings.
