Robert Dwayne McGrath, 55

Robert Dwayne McGrath, 55, of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, passed away at home on Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2018. He was born on July 3, 1962, in Coeur d’Alene to John and Marilyn McGrath.

He is survived by his mother, Marilyn McGrath; father, John McGrath; step-mother, Rita; his three sisters, Lynn Charles, Teri (Jack) Morris and Gina (Russ) Filler; uncles, Arnold (Sandy) McGrath, Allen (Sandra) McGrath, Dale (Teresa) Watson; aunts, Gloria Schmidt and Dora Ann Powell, and several cousins. Bob was preceded in death by his grandparents, Dan and Donna Watson; grandparents, Merel and Perlean McGrath; and uncles, Eugene McGrath, Jerold McGrath and William Watson.

During Bob’s teenage years he spent summers flying and boating around Southeast Alaska while spending this special time with his dad. During this time, he was able to really enjoy all of the thing he loved about the outdoors.

Bob served in the U.S. Army in Anchorage, Alaska. When his tour of duty was completed he moved to Troy, Mont., and went to work as a rock bolter in the underground Asco Mine. When the mine was closed he moved to Seward, Alaska, and started a career as a meat cutter for Carrs’ Safeway. After several years he went to work for Three Bears Foods in Wasilla and Tok. His last employment was with the Coeur d’Alene Casino. He really enjoyed his time there, as he said every day was different and the people he worked with were great.

He loved the outdoors, whether it would be hunting or fishing on his favorite trout stream (Marble Creek on the St. Joe River), or fishing for salmon on the Kenai River in Alaska.

Bob and his best buddy, Jay Scott, would spend hours and days doing what they loved, hunting, fishing and camping. From Idaho to Alaska, he really looked forward to these special times with Jay.
