COEUR d’ALENE — A stellar senior season continues for Hyrum Hunsaker, who notched arguably his most impressive win of the season en route to the 170 pound championship, leading the Bulldogs to a 12th place finish among 21 teams last weekend at the North Idaho Rumble.
Hunsaker won a 14-11 decision over Post Falls Coleton Kazmierczak, who won this year’s prestigious Tri-State Tournament, and now sports a 33-4 record while anchoring the lineup for the Bulldogs.
“Our standout wrestler is Hyrum Hunsaker, who beat the Tri-state champ from Post Falls in the finals,” said Bulldogs head coach Jake Stark. “I am proud of how Hyrum has wrestled and the effort he has shown all season on and off the mat to lead by example.”
Andrew Webster (182) lost 8-4 in the third place match to Timberlake to finish fourth, and Casey Olesen scored two hard fought decisions over Capital and Vallivue to finish fifth.
Sandpoint is at Moscow on Wednesday.
