SAGLE — A waterfront home was completely destroyed by a structure fire on Tuesday morning, according to Selkirk Fire Rescue & EMS officials.
Bonner County Dispatch received multiple reports of the fire in 2000 block of Wooded Acres Drive at about 11:20 a.m.
“We saw a good column of smoke as we were leaving Sandpoint,” said Chief Ron Stocking.
The two-story home overlooking the Pend Oreille River was fully involved when firefighters from Selkirk Fire and Northside Fire arrived on the scene, Stocking said.
It was also threatening a neighboring home, although firefighters were able to keep it from causing a great deal of damage. The home’s siding, facia and an upstairs window suffered some damage, Stocking said.
“The firefighters made an aggressive attack to stop the fire’s spread,” said Stocking.
No firefighters were injured battling the blaze. The home was not occupied and fire officials were still trying to contact the home’s owner on Tuesday afternoon.
Stocking suspected the home was seasonally occupied due to the lack of snow removal on the premises.
The home value was estimated at more than $500,000
Three engines and three water tenders were mustered by Selkirk Fire, while Northside responded with a tender.
The suspected cause of the fire was not known. Stocking said the Idaho State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.
