MATTAWA — Hund Memorial Park will soon be bustling with vendors and shoppers during the first ever Wahluke Farmers Market.

The market is set to begin on July 11, and will be held every Wednesday through Aug. 1. Market time will be from 3-7 p.m.

“We will have produce vendors,” said market coordinator, Diane Hyndman.

Artists, pottery, and processed farm products will also be featured at the market, along with a variety of food booths.

The Wahluke Farmers Market is a community entity, not a private one, Hyndman explained, and will be operating under the Mattawa Chamber of Commerce. The Port of Mattawa, the City of Mattawa, Columbia Bank and Columbia Basin Health Association have all been big contributors to the market as well said Hyndman.

‘We’re a non-profit,” said Hyndman.

A team of three to five people has been hard at work since January to bring about the market. Volunteers are still needed to help on market days, said Hyndman, and there is still room for more vendors to sign up.

“We have lots of room in the park,” said Hyndman.

For more information or for questions on vendor applications, email [email protected] or visit their Facebook page at Wahluke Farmers Market.
