BONNERS FERRY — A Boundary County man has been charged with felony battery for domestic violence with traumatic injury.

According to the police reports, on the evening of June 24, Jacob Navarro was driving near the Boundary Community Hospital with the alleged victim when they began arguing, which then escalated into a physical fight. Navarro was allegedly grabbing the victims hair and pushing her down and around the passenger seat area.

The victim was trying to grab Navarro’s wrists and arms, and when they reached Roosevelt Street in Moyie Springs, the victim attempted to put the car into park so she could get out of the vehicle, said the police report.

Navarro then allegedly back handed the victim in the face, causing her nose to split open. According to the police reports, Navarro then took the victim to a location to clean up the blood.

According to the police report, the victim later got medical attention from the hospital, telling them that she had fallen at her house, because she was afraid of telling the truth in front of Navarro. The victim suffered a broken nose with multiple bone fragments, and required six stitches to close the wound on her nose, said the police report.

A no contact order has been issued, and Navarro’s bond is set at $50,000. The preliminary hearing is set for July 6 at 1:30 p.m.
