A two-vehicle accident Friday afternoon on U.S. 93 south of Lakeside sent three people to the hospital.

According to a witness, a BMW Series 335i with a temporary registration from Pennsylvania was in the southbound passing lane when it rear-ended a Subaru Outback waiting to turn left on to Angel Point Road.

The impact of the collision sent the Outback over a small embankment and on to its roof.

Montana Highway Patrol Trooper Jim Schneider said two people were in the Outback and one in the BMW. While the extent of their injuries wasn’t known, they weren’t believed to be life-threatening.

Air bags deployed in both vehicles.

It wasn’t known if alcohol or drugs were suspected.

In addition to Montana Highway Patrol, first-responders from Somers Fire Department, South Kalispell Fire Department and Lakeside Quick Response team worked at the scene.
