Columbia Basin Big Nine Player of the Year Dominic Signorelli of Moses Lake added another accolade to the growing list when the Chiefs senior was named to the USA TODAY High School Sports All-USA Washington Baseball Team.
Signorelli, who was also selected to the 2018 Washington State Baseball Coaches Association 4A All-State Team, now finds himself on USA TODAY’s national state-by-state selection list.
USA TODAY High School Sports, in conjunction with American Family Insurance, selects the best players in the nation on a state-by-state basis, based on their athletic achievements from the 2017-18 season.
Signorelli, who was a major part in Moses Lake’s CBBN league championship and return to the 4A state tournament, was named to the second team. The Moses Lake third baseman finished the season with a batting average of .542 hitting out of the three hole. He also had a slugging percentage of .712, striking out just four times in 75 plate appearances. He finished with 18 RBIs and scored 23 times.
“It was a nice surprise,” said Greco Signorelli, who is on the Moses Lake coaching staff. “He worked this season and all that work paid off.”
Richland’s Grant Richardson was selected at the USA TODAY Washington Coach of the year. Richland led the Bombers (18-10) to the Class 4A state championship, the program’s fifth title but its first since 2009.
Richland clinched the crown with a 5-2 win over Skyview in the state final.
Selah’s Carter Young was named the Player of the Year. Young, the state’s Gatorade Player of the Year, batted .412 with four home runs and 47 runs scored, leading the Vikings (20-3) to the second round of the Class 2A state tournament.
