A truck crashed into the Straight Blast Gym in Whitefish Friday evening, but there were no injuries.

According to SBG Whitefish’s Daniel DiStefano, it was a close call for those who were inside the gym just before the crash occurred.

“If it happened 15 minutes later, people would’ve been hurt,” DiStefano said. “There were coaches teaching kids mixed martial arts where the vehicle hit, so we’re very thankful no one was hurt.”

According to DiStefano, the truck driver, who he described as being possibly in his 60s, claimed that the truck’s accelerator stuck as he was driving.

He also said the driver, who was orginally in the Pin & Cue parking lot, reported that he dodged a family walking there before crashing into the gym.

DiStefano said the truck crashed through the wall and into the lobby, causing quite a bit of damage.

But the area where the truck went through the wall was boarded up and DiStefano reported the gym is still open and classes are being held as scheduled.
