Disc golf is a sport in which the players participate in the game of golf, but instead of using a set of clubs and a ball, they use throwing discs (Frisbees) and standing baskets which are the goals. The object of the game is the same as ‘regular’ golf, where the players attempt to finish the course with the fewest tries at the goal.

Similar to traditional golf, the player must throw the disc from the landing spot in an attempt to put the disc into the basket and avoid obstacles such as bushes, trees, and water.

There are courses with as few as nine holes and as many as 18 holes, both varying with the landscape and amount of land allotted to the course.

Big Daddy’s Bar and Grill, located in Porthill, has expanded its horizons by implementing a brand new disc golf course, which expands throughout their eight acres of land. They plan to host a grand opening for the course on July 21 with a variety of attractions.

Big Daddy’s plans to host visitors for the class reunion during that weekend as well as the grand opening of the course during that time as well. Accompanying the disk golf course opening will be a two foot long smokie sale and eating contest and with every one-hundredth smokie sold, the buyer gets a $50 gift card. All of the proceeds will go to the local 4-H club and implementing the Disc Golf sport to the 4-H kids in Boundary County.

The Big Daddy’s course is unique in that the game can be played at night. The baskets are modified with LED lighting, and there are disks, both floating and normal, that may be rented to game players. There is a special type of basket on the course that allows players to pay $1 for three chances, and if they make the disk into the unique basket, they win the ‘pot’ of money.

With a plethora of food, games, and friends, the Big Daddy’s Bar and Grill plans to host an evening of family friendly fun in Porthill.
