PABLO — Nara Sprint car racer Kyle Alberding is now one step closer to following his racing family’s tradition when he won the 35-lap sprint car race Saturday night at Mission Valley Speedway in Pablo.

Alberding, who is currently a resident of Winston, Oreg., is trying to mimic the success his dad Andy Alberding and grandfather Rick Brown had as former Sprint Car champions both on asphalt and dirt tracks.

“My dad and grandpa were involved in the sprint cup series and won a lot of championships,” the 19-year-old, now in his third year on the Sprint Car circuit, said. “My ultimate series goal will be to win one of them.”

During the course of the race season, Kyle Alberding, who works at a dairy outside of Winston, Oregon, has currently won two of the four Sprint car races he has entered in. The victory at the Mission Valley Speedway marks his second title of the season.

“(In order to win a race), it takes a lot of things to go right and a lot of things have to go your way,” Kyle Alberding said.

Kyle Alberding said he doesn’t have a lot of aspirations to reach the professional circuit, but would “turn pro” under the right circumstances.

“I have a great job working for the dairy but wouldn’t pass up (my chance to turn pro) if the right opportunity came along,” Kyle Alberding said. “Right now, I get a chance to do a lot of travelling and getting out of town (racing).”

Kyle Alberding missed an opportunity to travel with his dad and grandfather to Montana in 2004 because he was too young to come out on the trip said he “enjoyed this experience.”

Alberding, who began his career with Outlaw cars when he was seven or eight-years-old, said he was “impressed” in his first time ever racing in Montana.

“This is a cool track,” Kyle Alberding said. “This is my first time I’ve ever come to Montana.”
