QUINCY — A GoFundMe page was established to help raise money for the family of a Quincy man who died in a car collision last week. The man’s twin brother was involved in the collision as well and received injuries.

The GoFundMe page was set up to benefit the family of twin brothers Jose and Jesus DeLaTorre, 19. Jose was reportedly driving east on Road 9 Northwest near Quincy on July 6 when he allegedly didn’t yield and collided with a pickup truck driven by 30-year-old Michael B. Knutson, who was driving south on Road S Northwest. Jose was transported to Quincy Valley Medical Center, where he died from injuries. Jose’s passengers, his twin and 22-year-old Uriel Hernandez Velasquez were injured. Knutson refused medical treatment.

The GoFundMe page was created on Sunday and has a goal of raising $12,000 to aid with funeral arrangements and other costs. As of Thursday afternoon almost 100 people had donated to the campaign, raising nearly $6,000.

“I’m still in complete shock....I’m seriously going to miss your hugs every time I would see you. I’m going to miss your infectious smile, laughter and energy. Rest easy Jose,” wrote one person on the page.

“Our deepest condolences to the family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family,” commented another.
