Camp Festival Amadeus will once again nurture the musical education of young musicians in the Flathead Valley next month.

The camp, established in 2008 by Artistic Director Jenanne Solberg, will be held Aug. 5-10 in conjunction with the Glacier Symphony and Chorale’s Festival Amadeus.

The camp is for advanced string players entering grades seven through 12.

In each day of the camp, students will participate in orchestra sessions, small ensembles, masterclasses and elective classes, with opportunities for additional private lessons.

Students will also attend workshops and interactive presentations with the festival’s guest musicians and attend Festival Amadeus concerts in the evenings.

A student recital, pizza dinner, Whitefish Lake picnic and trip to the Big Sky Water Slides highlight the camp.

The camp faculty is made up of the festival’s guest musician, including Micheal Certalic, Sally Jerde, Jesse Ahmann, Amelia Thornton, Trevor Ostenson, Griffin Browne, Megan Karls and Gin Bowland.

The camp culminates in a free, public student recital on Aug. 10.

The camp is open to violin, viola, cello, and bass students. With advance notice, piano students may apply as well. Students are encouraged to list all instruments they play.

For tuition information and to register, call North Valley Music School at 406-862-8074 or email [email protected].

Scholarships are available for all students based upon the Federal School Lunch Program eligibility guidelines. The Whitefish Rotary Club supports scholarships for the camp.
