SANDPOINT — Eye Care For You is adding a pediatric eye care specialist to the practice with its newest addition, Dr. Chad Schobert.
Dr. Julie Gagnon recently partnered with Schobert, who was born and raised in Coeur d’Alene before leaving for optometry school in Portland, Ore. He graduated from Pacific University in 2014 and spent the past few years in Colorado and New Mexico.
“So I was a ways away, and the whole family is up here on both sides,” he said, adding that his family is in Hayden Lake, and his wife’s family is in Coeur d’Alene. “So we were trying to come back up here to be around family, and we like the Northwest.”
The opportunity came up to partner with Dr. Julie Gagnon at Eye Care For You, and he said he is “excited” to be in Sandpoint.
In both Colorado and New Mexico, Schobert worked in pediatric centers, and said he enjoys pediatric optometry.
“That’s one of the things I am trying to bring to this practice,” Schobert said. “That what we are going to work on doing, is communicating with the schools and pediatricians, so hopefully my name will be the one that they think of when they have children that need an eye exam.”
Schobert moved to Sandpoint with his wife, Alison Schobert, and their three kids. Alison Schobert also joined the practice recently as the office manager. Chad Schobert joined the practice in January part-time, moving to full time in March. Alison Schobert joined in May.
Alison Schobert, who grew up in Post Falls, said she “loves” being back in the area as well.
“I definitely have a greater appreciation of the area after having been in the desert for a long time,” she said.
Eye Care For You has been in business in Sandpoint for 60 years, and Gagnon has owned the clinic for the past 20 years.
Eye Care For You is a full scope optometry practice that offers routine eye care, disease management, state of the art technology, and a wide selection of frames to fit all lifestyles and personalities.
The office is located at 710 Superior St., behind Dub’s Drive-In. For information or appointments, call 208-263-9000, or visit the website at sandpointeyes.com.
