Thomas William Arrison, 69

Thomas “Tom” William Arrison, of Post Falls, Idaho, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2018, surrounded by his loving family at the Hospice of North Idaho Schneidmiller House. Tom was born in Wichita, Kan., to Thomas and Betty Arrison. From Kansas, Tom moved frequently in his childhood, including Colorado Springs, Colo., and Las Vegas, Nev., but in 1964 he moved to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, and fell in love.

Tom graduated from Coeur d’Alene High School in 1966 and attended North Idaho College for two years. After college, in November of 1968 he joined the Air Force. He then married the love of his life, Kathleen Conery, on Aug. 15, 1970, before serving in Vietnam as a Staff Sergeant, from 1971 to 1972. Tom then served as a police officer at the Coeur d’Alene Police Department from 1975 to 1979, a security supervisor at Bunker Hill in Kellogg, Idaho, and a deputy sheriff in Idaho County from 1981 to 1983. In 1983, Tom started work at Costco Wholesale in Spokane, Wash., where he dedicated 31 years until his retirement at the Coeur d’Alene store in 2014.

Tom’s greatest joy was his family and friends. He spent much of his life building his home and enjoying it with the people and animals he cared for the most. Tom also spent his time camping, traveling, fishing, four wheeling and participating in the NRA. For Tom, there was nothing more relaxing than an afternoon nap with his beloved cats, Harry, Mooch and Sam, or his dog, April.

Since his retirement, Tom relished spending time at his recreational property he purchased in Donnelly, Idaho. There are many fond memories spent camping together during the summer. Tom drew great fulfillment from his generosity of helping people and animals in need. Tom will be remembered for his compassion for others, big sense of humor and hardworking, logical mindedness. Tom will be greatly missed by all those who were blessed with meeting him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Betty (Roberton) Arrison and his sister, Janet Yahn. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Arrison; daughter, Becky Arrison of McCall, Idaho; son and daughter-in-law, Ben and Lesa Arrison and grandchildren, Kadin and Rilynn of Hayden, Idaho; brother-in-law, Bill Yahn of Boise, Idaho; and sister-in-law, Donna Conery of Hayden.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 28, 2018, at Yates Funeral Home — Coeur d’Alene Chapel, 744 N. Fourth St. In lieu of flowers, a memorial gift in Tom’s memory may be made to Hospice of North Idaho, 2290 W. Prairie Ave., Coeur d’Alene, ID 83815.
