SANDPOINT — A preliminary hearing is pending for a Bonner County woman who unsuccessfully tried to outrun law enforcement earlier this month.
Kamille Lucille Harriman is charged with eluding at the felony level because she drove recklessly during the pursuit and eclipsed the posted speed limit by 30 mph or more, a criminal complaint alleges.
A Ponderay Police officer happened upon Harriman, 35, driving on Lincoln Avenue in Sandpoint on July 1.
Knowing the woman had active warrants for her arrest from Bonner and Kootenai counties, the officer attempted to pull Harriman over after she committed a traffic offense, according to a probable cause affidavit.
Harriman failed to yield and was followed to Baldy Mountain Road, North Boyer Avenue and eventually U.S. Highway 95. After turning north onto the highway, Harriman allegedly sped through the 45-mph zone at speeds nearing 100 mph, according to court documents.
Tire-disabling spike strips were successfully deployed near the Boundary County line and Harriman was arrested by Bonners Ferry Police on Kootenai Trail Road, the affidavit said.
A hearing to determine whether the state possess enough evidence to justify trying Harriman in 1st District Court is set for Wednesday.
