GEORGE — Two people were assaulted with rocks during a concert at the Gorge Amphitheater over the weekend and detectives are seeking information from first-hand witnesses on the assaults.

Deputies were made aware of the assaults Saturday evening during the Phish concert after the two male victims were brought to a medical tent. The victims received head injuries and were transported to local hospitals for treatment. One of the victims is still hospitalized at Confluence Health-Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee, while the other was treated and has since been released. A GoFundMe account has been set up for Joe Allen Jr., the victim who is still hospitalized, to pay for medical bills and other costs associated with his recovery. To donate to the cause visit www.gofundme.com/fundraiser-for-joe-allen-jr.

“What is known so far is that the victims were assaulted around the same time, but at locations far apart from one another inside the concert venue; one victim was down near the stage, the other up high on the hill above. Both victims were struck with rocks,” stated the Grant County Sheriff’s Office in a news release. “Neither victim can identify their assailant. The victims do not know each other.”

Detectives are asking people who witnessed either of assaults first-hand to contact the GCSO at 509-762-1160 or email crimetips@grantcountywa.gov.
