The Eureka Community Players will perform the musical “Quilters” — featuring quilts made by local quilters — at the annual quilting festival in Eureka.

The musical “is a show of storytelling and music that shares the strength, tragedy, and beauty of pioneer women settling the west,” a news release states.

“The story centers on a woman, Sarah, making her final quilt for her six daughters; her “Legacy” quilt,” the news release continues. “Each block tells a different story from her own life and the lives of her family. The six daughters take on various parts in the re-telling of these stories. It is a powerful representation of the ties that bind us together as humans and as families.”

Local quilters made 12 quilt blocks for the production, as well as “an enormous legacy quilt” to be unveiled at the end of the show.

“Quilters” takes place at the Eureka Community Hall 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3; 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4; and 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 5. Tickets are $8.
