Moses Lake man falls asleep at wheel, crashes Thursday morning

MOSES LAKE — A Moses Lake man who fell asleep at the wheel Thursday morning and crashed his vehicle escaped the collision without any injuries.

About 7 a.m. Juan Baeza Escobedo, 19, of Moses Lake, was driving a 2015 Mazda 6 south on state Route 17 when he reportedly fell asleep at the wheel. The Mazda struck some barrel barriers, rolled and came to a rest on its top blocking both SR-17 lanes, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Baeza Escobedo was not injured in the crash and the Mazda sustained reportable damages and was impounded. The patrol reports Baeza Escobedo was cited for second-degree negligent driving.
