QUINCY — Alcohol and excessive speed reportedly played a role in a fatal collision near Quincy over the weekend.

Angela Anaya, 48, of Quincy, was driving a 2011 Cadillac CTS at a high speed north on Road P Northwest Sunday night when she reportedly failed to negotiate a curve between Road 12 and Martin Road Northwest. The Cadillac reportedly rolled four times and Anaya’s passenger, Jose Lozano, 48, of Quincy, was ejected from the vehicle, according to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office. Anaya had on a seat belt at the time of the collision, but Lozano reportedly did not have one on.

Anaya was injured, but she was able to walk to her Quincy residence after the collision. A friend transported Anaya to Quincy Valley Medical Center and Anaya told hospital staff she was in a collision near Interstate 90 and Adams Road. Due to her serious condition, Anaya was later transferred to Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane for treatment of a fractured skull.

Deputies searched for the scene of the collision for over three hours and Lozano’s body was found by a deputy at the collision scene about 3 a.m. Monday morning. The sheriff’s office reports alcohol and excessive speed played a role in the fatal collision. The Grant County Sheriff’s Motor Traffic Unit is investigating the collision.
