COEUR d’ALENE — The Human Rights Education Institute will host the second of three "reads" of the Human Library next Tuesday.

The Human Library is designed to build a positive framework for conversations that can challenge stereotypes and prejudices through dialogue.

It's an opportunity to open individuals' minds in a positive way and help them better understand the misconceptions they may have of others. The Human Library is a place where real people are "on loan" to attendees ("readers"), where difficult questions are expected and appreciated and where lifetime questions can be answered.

At this event, community members will be able to explore life stories different from their own. The second in the three-part series will feature stories from a non-binary lesbian, a transgender individual, a sober woman, a female Iraq veteran who is married to a Muslim, a male refugee, a Peruvian woman, a member of the Baha'i faith, a police officer and others.

The Human Library will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. at HREI, 414 W. Fort Grounds Drive, Coeur d'Alene. It is free and open to the public.
