Parents of Montana children from age 11 to 17 who receive at least three particular vaccinations can enter to win a $50 Amazon gift card as part of a Department of Public Health and Human Services campaign called the MT TeenVax Challenge.

The multi-year campaign’s purpose is “to increase awareness about the importance of teen vaccines,” a news release states.

The department recommends that teens be vaccinated for tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis (Tdap), the human papillomavirus (HPV) series, and the start of the meningococcal (MCV4).

“These vaccines are routinely administered at age 11-12 years and catch up for those age 13 years and older who missed vaccination,” the news release states.

The department also recommends an annual vaccination for influenza, commonly known as the flu.

Parents or guardians of 11- to 17-year-olds that have received at least one Tdap, one MCV4 and one HPV vaccination can enter their child’s name into a drawing for a $50 Amazon gift card, the news release states. The entry deadline is Oct. 31 and one gift card per county will be given away.

The Montana Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics, Montana Academy of Family Physicians and the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Montana Care Van program are partnering with the Department of Public Health and Human Services to promote the challenge.
