Carolyn Faye Alberts

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Carolyn Faye Chandler Alberts announce her death on June 10, 2018, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

Carolyn was born on July 22, 1933, in Houston, Texas, to Anna Louise Knight Chandler, the oldest of three daughters.

Carolyn graduated from Stephen F. Austin Senior High School where she was on the rifle team and received the honorary rank of Lt. Colonel for the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps, a top position for anyone, let alone a young girl. Shortly after graduation she attended the University of Houston.

She worked at the UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, Calif., for 20 years where she retired as the director of communications.

Carolyn moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1992 with her oldest daughter. She loved Coeur d’Alene and became very involved in the community, especially with St. Luke’s Episcopal Church.

She was a founding member of the Bell Choir and was a member of the Chancel Choir. Carolyn was part of the Communications Team and worked closely with the Coeur d’Alene Press. She published “Angels Among Us,” a monthly article in the St. Luke’s Newsletter focusing on the lives of members of St. Luke’s. Carolyn was also a long-time lay eucharistic minister. She was the creator and director of her favorite event, The Episcofollies, a fundraiser for different charities.

She is survived by her husband, Bill Alberts; her sister, Yvonne Norris; her four daughters, Cherie VanderRoest, Debbie Kerns, Karen Cook and Cindy Carney; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one more on the way. Carolyn was the matriarch of a very close-knit family. Her beautiful soul and sweet smile will be greatly missed.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, June 15, 2018, at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 501 E. Wallace Ave., in Coeur d’Alene.
