The deadline for submitting special hunt permit applications was midnight on May 23. Now we have a waiting game.
Fish and Wildlife indicates the results will be available by the end of June for deer, elk, mountain goat, bighorn sheep, moose and turkey. However, the results have been available earlier than expected in years past.
My computer has check the Fish and Wildlife site at least once a day. So, what’s the big deal? The results will determine the species and sex each hunter will pursue this fall.
Submitting the applications is easy when using the Fish and Wildlife website. Checking the results is also easy, just go to the site and the results will appear. During the waiting game, the site simply says “submitted” by each species and application submitted.
There is one area of the submission process which would make the procedure easier. The Big Game Pamphlet has the permit categories in a certain order, such as Quality deer hunt, Second Deer Hunt, and Master Hunter Deer Hunts.
This makes it easy to prepare a list, which makes the submission process easier. Wouldn’t a reasonable person figure Fish and Wildlife would organize their website in the same manner? No, it requires the hunter applying for the various hunts to jump around from one deer hunt to another.
This wouldn’t matter if only three hunt applications were involved. Think about the problem with me applying for 14 permits involving five big game species.
The job was completed and the waiting game continues. Just checked again, still no results.
