Alcohol and drug use were believed to be factors in a fatal crash early Saturday morning on U.S. 93 near Olney.

According to Montana Highway Patrol Tpr. Josh Nanna, a man, approximately 40 years of age, was driving south near milemarker 143 at about 6:20 a.m. when he drifted off the left side of the road.

The vehicle hit a driveway, went airborne and rolled before coming to a stop.

The man, who was not wearing a seat belt, was partially ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene.

In addition to MHP, the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office and volunteer fire departments from Olney and Whitefish responded to the scene.
